Day 1 - Arrival in Lecce
Arrival by own or with transfer in the city of Lecce. The afternoon dedicated to visit the historic and artistic center of Lecce, leaving from Porta Napoli. The eighteenth-century palaces and baroque churches are the most representative monuments of the city: Piazza Duomo, Church of St. Irene, Piazza St. Horace (Amphitheatre, Seat, St. Mark's Church), Church of Holy Cross and Celestine Convent, Church of Santa Chiara, the Roman Theatre. Free lunch or dinner.
Day 2 - Tour of Gallipoli
Breakfast. Arrival in Gallipoli by own or with the transfer. Day dedicated to the visit of Gallipoli. There are two departures scheduled for the tour, morning or afternoon, departing from the "Hellenistic fountain" prospicente the ancient port “del Cannetto”. We continue to visit the cathedral built in honor of St. Agatha in the early seventeenth century. Do not miss a visit to the underground oil mill which is located in the historic town of the city and the Church of Purity. The tour ends on the parkway, the Riviera, opened on the site of the ancient walls, you can walk around the island enjoying exciting scenarios. Free lunch or dinner. Return to the city of Lecce.
Day 3 - Tour of Otranto
Breakfast. Arrival in Otranto by own or with the transfer. Day dedicated to the visit of the historic and artistic town of Otranto. There are two departures scheduled for the tour, morning or afternoon, starting from the late-fifteenth-century Porta Alfonsina. First stop is the Romanesque Cathedral, an impressive example of Romanesque-Apulian with beautiful facade and floor mosaic (1166), one of the largest in the world. According to the legend Dante would have found inspiration for his own Comedy after admiring this lovely mosaic. In the chapel of the martyrs are preserved the bones of nearly 600 victims of the massacre perpetrated by the Turks. Under the apse is a large crypt, supported by numerous columns, with remains of frescoes. There will be visits to the Church of St. Peter, which is often associated with that of St. Sophia in Constantinople and the castle, built by Ferdinand of Aragon (1485-98). Free lunch or dinner. Return to the city of Lecce.
Day 4 - Departure
Breakfast. Possibility to extend your stay or return to your destination of origin.
